Smith: “Gavin Newsom has now responded. This is just now posted to X. The governor responded with, ‘The president of the United States just called for the arrest of a sitting governor. This is a day I hoped I would never see in America,’ says Newsom. ‘I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican. This is a line we cannot cross as a nation. This is an unmistakable step toward authoritarianism.’ Your reaction?”
VITIELLO: “Well, California, the once great state of California, as the president would say, has been circling the drain for quite a while. We have seen the homeless problems there. They are coddling illegal aliens in the entire state. They have state law that prevents law enforcement from cooperating with immigration authorities like ICE to turn people over who are in the country illegally and have committed heinous crimes against the citizens of that state. So if he wants to continue to circle the drain, if he wants to push off the idea that federal agents are there doing the job that’s been authorized by Congress, that’s been directed by the president and is lead by the Department of Homeland Security, he can keep doing that, but he can’t ignore the crime and the productive arrests that we have made against cartel members and money launderers just so far this week in L.A. and we will continue.”
Smith: “Before I go, we just have a few seconds here, do you agree with the president? Do you believe there should be an arrest made of the governor?”
VITIELLO: “If people get in the way of a lawful activity of law enforcement officers, if they impede immigration officers from doing their job, they should be arrested. If the governor wants to stand on that line, it ought to be him as well.”
Smith: “Got it. Ron, thank you so much for joining us.”
