During the 1990's David Cole was prominently involved in the much-publicized global controversy on the role and function of the Auschwitz-Birkenau camp complex during World War II, and the extent to which it was a center of mass killings.

His widely viewed “Cole- Piper Auschwitz video,” based on his 1992 visit to the camp site, exposes some of the deceit and fakery of the familiar Holocaust narrative. During those years, Cole also presented his provocative views on national television, including an appearance on the popular “Phil Donahue” show.

In a vicious letter posted on the Internet, the Jewish Defense League (JDL) first threatened Cole's life. He was later subjected to a campaign of physical violence and threats against him by the extremist Jewish Defense League (JDL).

JDL thugs attacked him at a meeting at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1992. One first tried to push him down a flight of stairs, and then others threw food at him. Finally, a JDL thug assaulted him, hitting him in the face and bloodying his nose.

Emotionally fragile and torn between his conscience and family loyalties as well as filial devotion, he could not withstand the pressure and recanted with an abject apology to his tribesmen and tormentors. Every serious revisionist understands that this act of recantation was coerced and may have bought David his very survival.
