India is poised to bolster its intelligence and surveillance capabilities with a $120 million plan to acquire I-STAR aircraft — cutting-edge platforms for Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition, and Reconnaissance. Seen as a strategic response to rising threats from China and Pakistan, the move will equip the Indian Air Force with advanced real-time tracking and strike capabilities. India plans to purchase three airframes from global manufacturers like Boeing and Bombardier, integrating them with homegrown DRDO sensor systems. These aircraft will detect and monitor enemy assets from high altitudes without entering hostile airspace. With this leap, India joins an elite group of nations operating advanced ISR platforms, alongside the US, UK, and Israel. Defence experts warn of deepening Pakistan-China military ties, and India’s acquisition reflects its commitment to staying ahead in modern warfare. Once operational, I-STAR will deliver round-the-clock battlefield awareness, precision targeting, and a strategic edge in any future conflict.
