Corrosion Of Conformity was formed in 1982 and Started out as a punk band. The members were all teenagers during its original formation in June 1982. On their later releases they became a crossover/thrash metal band, then turned into their modern sound which blends heavy metal with southern rock and blues.

C.O.C. has been on hiatus many times, mostly due to the members concentrating on other projects. Their last hiatus took place from 2006 to 2010. By the time the band went back active in 2010 they had not released an official statement regarding Pepper's status in the band.

As the Mike/Woody/Reed line-up released a new single called Your Tomorrow and managed to record a new album, it seemed Pepper was still in the band, but was not actively participating in it. C.O.C. themselves even stated that Pepper had never left the band. The band announced their reunion with him in December 2014.

So BLIND from corrosion of conformity, well what can i say about this one guys. This album was a union of many different styles and ideas and concepts. But ultimately the core style is of course crossover thrash which if by now you dont know, is a combination of hardcore punk meets thrash metal and Corrosion of conformity is one of the pioneers of this merge of styles.

The way this album sounds is like describing the sound of grime and sludge with thrash metal mixed right in. The emotional depth of this record is also unparalleled and the riffing is indicitative of emotions of harsh realities and difficult times we all face in life.

Now alot of the lyrics maintain a very anti political fuck the man theme. This makes for a very captivating album and there is alot of depth to both the music and the lyrics and overall direction of the album as a whole.
One thing i will also note here is this production, Its clean but its also raw enough to prevent it from being "too clean" as this would ruin the impact of Corrosion of conformity music.

The thrashing sludge madness that bursts through this barrage of lunacy from corrision of conformity is immaculately crafted with precision, the different directions that this album takes simultaneously works to its advantage as well and makes it really stand out as a truly unique piece of art that stands on its own merrit.

This is southern metal with sludge and crossover thrash with that punk mentality being at the very core of this monsterous record and i honestly wouldn't have it any other way to be honest. There is also a great deal of technical prowess of full display here but also slower sludgier parts that give it a hot bog filled atmosphere that reminds you that you are indeed listening to southern sludge metal and I honestly cannot believe how fucking good this album is to this day.

It holds up against so many albums and its been over 29 years. This is a feat that is not easily accomplished and the varying degree of influences in Corrosion Of Conformity's music ranges from Black Sabbath, Pantera, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth and Down, Suicidal Tendencies.. etc The fact that they seamlessley combine these influences without becoming predictable or allowing too much of one or the other to become the dominant sound all while maintaing a sound that is distinctly their own is an amazing accomplishment.
