Alright so Calm before the storm opens with the track "Black Xmas" which is quite the comedic song title. It has some really strong traditional metal riffs with some great melody and hooks throughout. The bass can be heard very well on this album which is quite impressive. This really reminds me of a heavier judas priest to be honest and i can hear alot of priest influences in here and that's a good thing. This is quite the strong opener and is memorable. Overall a decent song

Next up we have the track "Chanting of the priests" and it opens with a great traditional metal groove with some great soaring lead guitar riffing as well. Bass is very high in the mix again and i really appreciate that about this track. The feeling im getting from this is an overall party have a great time vibe that comes from the riffing, drumming, guitar riffs and kronos' vocals, and thats basically what this is. Though there are some darker parts on this track with some strange low demonic spoken dialect i still think this album was really about them experimenting and just making an overall fun album. The guitar solo on this one is pretty damned good as well for what it is. This is another decent song.

Next up is the track Metal Punk and thats exactly what it sounds like, a hybrid of metal and a punk beat and vocal delivery which is a refreshing breath of air in my opinion. Theres some pretty good double bass in this one as well. And i like the punk like vocals from kronos as well. Some really good riffing, drumming, bass and some great lead guitar happening here too. This is another fun metal/punk song and its nice to see venom experimenting on this album as much as they did with this album. In fact if i ever was going to buy a venom album this would probably be the only one i would consider getting. This overall is a pretty good song too!

Next up is "under the spell" and this one is a bit thrashier then the the previous tracks with some great sharp leads over the rythmic groove hook inducing melodic guitars, the bass is really awesome here too in my opinion. Kronos does some really good vocal work on this one too. This is pretty fast for this album as it does increase in tempo from time to time throughout the song. This one is ok, but not one of my favorites as kronos' vocals on this one get rather annoying in my opinion. But there is some really awesome lead guitar and a great solo to round off the annoying vocals so its a decent song.
