Krisiun was formed in 1990. All 3 members of the band are brothers, i mean how cool is that guys? So the lineup consists of Alex Carmago on bass and vocals. Max Kolsne on drums. Moyses Kolsne on guitars. Alex uses his fathers surname and max and moyses use their mothers surname. Bloodshed was released in october of 2004 on century media records. Now alot of people have said that this album is one of their most simplistic efforts? well,

i do not agree and i think what we have here is pure death metal that isn't overly concerned with technicality or gaining a new fan base through creating perhaps more accessible music. Krisiun are the first second wave death metal band out of brazil.

So what we have here with Bloodshed is Krisiun doing what they do best, and that is delivering full on brutality and visceral bloodletting with "Bloodshed" Passages of extremely violent and visceral guitars give me visions of murder and death but also takes me into the imagination of the morbid fascination that alex and co are exploring and executing on this album. This is nothing short of a DM classic. Riffing is tight and executed so fucking well.

Drums are played with such an incredible precision that it can be difficult to believe that he is indeed human. Max is extremely talented but that also goes for the rest of the band. The blasting cranks up the images of brutal violence and bloodletting as the album continues and pushes you further into its bloodsoaked carnage and dismemberment.

Its raw and dirty as well which i have always advocated for in my death metal.
There are some groovy hooks to this as well as the blasting reminds me of a war being fought with nothing but rapid machine gun firing war inducing riffs and drumming. The bass also thunders underneath the entire beast that at times sounds like a flank of panzer division tanks rolling in and blasting everything to rubble and ruin. There is a great deal of variety to the riffing and drumming so i don't know how anyone can find this simplistic or formulaic.

I mean sure it's death metal and has those meat and potatoes ingredients but this is the way death metal is supposed to be. However it also offers up some guitar driven creepier ominous sections as well especially with the track called EONS which really makes you feel the aftermath of the bloodsoaked violence that the record has displayed so elequently so far. One thing i will also say here is that Krisiun have never been about shying away from creating some of the most violent sounding old school death metal.

They have the spirit of the bands from the first wave and i think Krisiun would easily fit alongside bands like Possessed, Autopsy, Incantation, Immolation, Morbid Angel and Necrophagia with no issues. Alot of those first wave ingredients are here on full display with some thrash metal aesthetics in parts but most of their sound is just full on death metal brutality at its finest and it doesnt let up for the albums entire duration.

Bloodshed in particular has some really brutal lyrics that point to the slaughter and destruction of christianity and all of its sheep. Satanism and demonic tales of domination are also explored and emphasized alot in the lyricism but also in the music itself. This sounds both brutally violent but also incredibly apocalyptic in alot of ways as well and i think that really adds to krisiun's overall sound and direction on each record.
