Alright so this epic album opens with the track Night of the drinking dead and immediately you get this feeling of power and freedom, the riffs are epic, uplifting and have a very power metal esque feel to them. I instantly was reminded of bands like Dio, Iron maiden, priest and diamond head. However this is a bit heavier and theres some great double bass work and incredible thrash meets traditional riffing going on that gives you an epic battle like feel almost like its a futuristic battle taking place against an army of robots bent on overtaking humanity and Booze control are the band who is taking a stand against the Artifical intelligence enslavement? that's what i get from this track.
next up we have Thunder Child and this one feels like an epic war hero in the middle of a battle and the riffing and drumming and vocals definitely illustrate this feeling quite well. This is a very fantasy driven album and it has some power metal elements in it that give this record something quite unique. Though i have always felt like power metal and traditional metal have always gone hand in hand because you get these epic battle like riffs that give feelings of victory and triumph over the trials of life but also fantasy driven imagination and tales of ancient or futuristic battles being fought and its almost like the music itself is your weapon against the world so to speak.
The vocals are one of the most impressive aspects of the record. David has some incredible range and his highs remind me of Bruce dickenson in alot of ways and even the music itself has alot of Iron maiden influence and that's a damned good thing. I almost think this could be iron maiden 2.0 and the composition work here is very very similar just heavier. The overall direction and atmosphere on this record just makes me think of futuristic battles and triumph over everything thats opposing you and striving for a better life. It is a very uplifting experience.
One thing i will also say is that there are alot of thrash elements being incorporated on this record and some of the drum work on here is among some of the best ive ever heard! The riffing and bass and vocal work is incredibly tight and powerful here as well and this is a very talented group of musicians who understand the importance of the old school and im taken back to my childhood as i listen to this because it evokes those 80s metal memories i have listening to bands like Diamond head, dio, judas priest, iron maiden and even exciter.
It has some really great melody as well and hooks that pull you in and induce head banging fist pumping emotions. This album will make you feel good and pumped up and motivated. There are some serious elements to the lyrics as well exploring emotions of longing for freedom, war, rebellion and fantasy driven battles. but it also has that feel good beer drinking vibe to it as well which make it a great album to put on in your backyard while your drinking with your buddies or you got some work to do on the car, house or yard. Another thing i will note is the solo work, i mean my god these guys are talented and when you hear them youll know what im talking about. This album is epic, its powerful, its driven and its balls to the wall old school traditional metal meets thrash and i really hope theres alot more bands like this in the future
