How Sleeping on a Porch Got Him a Felony - Michigan Bodycam

On September 12, 2021, at 4:31 AM, Southfield Police officers responded to a bizarre call on Mahon Dr. in Southfield, MI. A woman reported finding an unknown male asleep on her elderly mother’s front porch. When officers arrived, they discovered the man passed out in a patio chair—with his pants down and a loaded handgun hidden in his crotch area.

The man, described as a Black male wearing a red shirt and jeans, was unresponsive at first. After multiple attempts to wake him, officers recovered a firearm and loose rounds from his pockets. The individual was intoxicated, did not have a valid CPL, and had several active warrants out of Southfield. He was arrested and taken into custody for carrying a concealed weapon (CCW).
