Bawari, director general of emergency management in Khorasan Razavi governorate, said heavy rains hit three cities - Mashhad, Fariman and Qal'at - on Tuesday, causing extensive damage and increasing rainfall intensity.

A terrifying moment was recorded in the village of Deh Gheibi, located near Mashhad, as a motorcyclist was swept away by a stream of water during a flood.

Stormy weather and heavy rain also affected Mashhad International Airport.

Heavy rainfall occurred in the village of Tappe Salam on the Mashhad-Fariman highway, and hail fell in the city of Rajaei.

Mohammad Elahi said that the region has been placed on an orange weather alert. According to him, a precipitation system has intensified over the province since June 10, causing heavy rains in different parts of the province.
