Las Ruinas de Coyoacán
by
Tingster & The Coyotitos

I walked the bones of Coyoacán
Where colors danced — now ghosts of man
The mural walls all cracked and gray
Their stories smudged by empty praise

A market square, its heart erased
The rhythm gone, the soul replaced
Xochimilco once sang in bloom
Now breathes no flower — only tomb

[Verse 2 – Looping synth pulse begins to build, like a rising threat]
They paved the fields to build their feed
Replaced the corn with clicks and greed
They mocked the gods, rewrote the tale
And fed their roots to drones for sale

They wore the past like souvenir
But would not see — or truly hear
So beauty died in filtered flame
And none were left to speak its name

It wasn’t war that broke this place…
It was the mirror… and your face.

Las Ruinas de Coyoacán the art you left to rot
Your culture sold in empty brands, your children soon forgot
You traded prayer for platform reach
But no one hears what silence teaches

Las Ruinas de Coyoacán the serpent weeps below
What once was sacred, now is code
And broken soil... can’t grow

You could have listened to the wind.
You could have knelt at trees.
But you learned to dance on ruins
Until the rhythm ceased.

I saw your temples turned to ash
Your sacred books replaced with cash
But still I howl among your stones
Because the dead… don’t die alone

Las Ruinas de Coyoacán still whisper in the dust
A truth ignored, a final stand, a warning you can trust
There’s still a chance to change your song
But not if you keep singing wrong

Remember what you left behind…
Or feed the flame… next time.

The ruins remember...
Will you?
