The band released just 2 albums in their short career. A demo called “In an Excruciating Way Infested with Vermin and Violated by Executioners Who Practise Incendiarism and Desanctifying the Pious” in 2001 and then in 2006 they released their only full-length “Tomb Of The Ancient King”. Wormphlegm was formed by 2 members from the band Tyranny Sometimes referred to as "torture doom" for their rumoured acts of self harm to achieve their trademarked intense and pained vocals whilst recording. Now this is pretty damned awesome if you ask me.
The members of Wormphlegm are as follows (Yes they all use Pseudonyms instead of real names) We have Apostatic Excrementor on bass and vocals. Dirtmaster on drums and vocals. Conqueror Worm Grubgorge on guitars and backing vocals.. Pretty creative pseudonyms if I may say so!

Now upon listening to this album for the very first time one thing is very apparent. This is not your typical listening experience. Yes I use the word experience because that’s exactly what this album is. It’s a fucking experience. It opens with one of the absolute most Ominously dark piano notes ever on an album and it repeats over and over as if it’s trying to let you know what you are about to experience which is sheer fucking black tortured darkness. This music could even be considered Chamber Metal if you will indulge me on the term.

The opening composition is called Mikael Agricola's list of the ancient Finnish false gods 1551 As the Composition continues the guitars slither in like a slime covered vile putrid creature from the depths of the abyss itself as it wraps itself around your throat and begins choking the very life out of you. Bass rumbles so fucking hard that you would swear it was the sound of hell itself. And no I don’t mean hell in the fire and brimstone sense either. Think black purgatory but also the void where all of your darkest nightmares spew forth like some kind of wretched experience only sought by the most demented minds.

There is also some absolutely insane tortured screaming coming from some obvious real screams that were sampled in here. Drumming is not fast and this is Snail Paced vile sick filth at its finest. Guitars cut through you like a fucking dull scathed knife shredding your flesh with absolute pain inducing precision. Vocals sound like some kind of tortured soul from beyond the blackest depths of the abyss as well. This is 30 minutes of pure mind altering dark insanity that has no intentions of giving you any fucking breathing room. No this is where darkness lays where not even a shred of light exists.

The riffs are extremely dark and melancholic conveying deep emotions of torture and pain. The screaming and growling is absolutely fucking inhuman and is clearly full of suicidal misanthropic insanity here ladies and gentleman. The screams of pain and death sound like they are emitting themselves from some kind of ancient torture chamber and this is clearly the intent of the entire composition as a whole!

Sonic leads soar above funeral riffs and agonizingly slow drumming, while the most unholy of all grunts and gut-wrenching shrieks constitute the vocals, with a morbid chant thrown in for good measure. And it’s altogether too easy to be lured in; soon you’ll be intoxicated in the filth, and find yourself headbanging to one or two riffs that have a classic doom groove to them, despite the music’s crushing atmosphere. By the time this 30 minute epic comes to a close, you’ll crave more.

The hypnotic spellbinding darkness that this 30 minute epic composition creates is nothing short of jaw dropping. But let me warn you, if you have a shitty attention span or you like crap like grindcore then stay far away from Funeral Doom Metal.
