Alright so, Reinventing The Steel. Well, this is quite the difficult record to summarize because of everything the album is comprised of. Now, to a lot of people this is their worst album? Well I feel just the opposite on this popular opinion. Because what I hear and feel on this record is that deep comradery that was missing on The Great Southern Trendkill. This is Pantera back at full fucking take no prisoners kick ass Texas southern Sludge blues influenced metal that gets right to your skull with the incredible opener Hellbound and it opens with that trademark dimebag guitar tone that we have all come to know and love. Super infectious groove power driven riffing and Rex following along behind Dime, Vinnie has some incredible tom work going on in this track with Phils soft spoken vocals that eventually spew forth into full chaotic screams of rage. Fast drumming, savage guitar and an equally savage bass line follow suite.

One thing I love about this track is the way it goes back and forth between bluesy southern groove into speeding savage thrashing madness with that savage screaming guitar that only Dimebag could produce with its absolute amazing delivery and conviction. Lyrically Hellbound is all about how Texas metal and Pantera in general is a religion and that the devout who follow will come to know their name again and that Pantera is a band that couldn’t be conquered, and that the fire was still very much alive in these men as this album unfolds.

Next up is “Godamn Electric” and its my personal favorite on the album. It opens with some awesome drum, guitar and bass work and stomps you in the face with that savage southern groove metal we all know from these boys. The signature guitar riff when phil is screaming “your trust is in whiskey and weed and pantera Its godamned electric” is an absolutely infectious powerful groove stomping section that just makes the hair on my neck stand up before it kicks back into the main section of the song. It rapidly shifts between tempos but manages to keep you fully engaged for the entire duration of the song… So without further ado lets listen to Godamn Electric! ….. And guys we are back and yes this song is absolutely killer and Dime’s soloing on this song is absolutely immaculate as hell and shreds your fucking ear drums with stunning precision and power. It also closes with Dimebag and Kerry king soloing like technical madmen on the brink of chaos. An absolute banger of a song and this is definitely proof that Pantera were back with a fucking vengeance… and the riffing, drumming, bass just wrap themselves around Phils vocals like texas rattle snakes with fangs dripping like venom and that’s exactly what this song sounds like… Pure fucking texas snake venom and I absolutely love it to pieces, its groovy, heavy, hook inducing headbanging madness. It speeds up towards the end with a really sick groove that increases in tempo that reminds me of some thrashing moments as well.

Next up we have “Yesterday Don’t mean shit” and again more of that insane infectious power driven groove ball stomping texas bluesy metal and that’s exactly what this album is comprised of. It’s almost like a trip back to Cowboys From Hell. In fact that’s the album I compare this record to because the ideas here are just back to basics and returning to form to what made them so fucking good in the first place and that is on full fucking display all throughout the album. "Yesterday Don't Mean Shit" kicks the speed up and relies on a very strong rhythmic backbone provided by Rex and Vinnie's excellent work; above it, cool riffs and Phil's angry performance complete the winning formula. Watch out for the bass lines underneath Dimebag's solo, and see why having an audible bass sound is a good thing.
