How to Remove Rust Spots from Your Vehicle | Iron Contamination Explained

In this video, I’ll show you how to remove iron spots from your car’s paint—something I honestly didn’t even know was a thing until I washed my truck and noticed rusty flecks near the bottom of my doors. After a little research, I learned that this is caused by iron contamination, often from brake dust—either from your own vehicle or others on the road.

These tiny metal particles can embed themselves in the paint and start to rust when exposed to moisture. It apparently happens to all cars but is especially noticeable on white paint (like mine!).

I picked up a product called Iron X on Amazon (linked below). Heads up—it smells awful, but it works! In this video, I walk you through the whole process including:
• Prepping the area (washing and drying)
• Why you shouldn’t work in full sun
• How long to let the product sit
• Safety precautions (like gloves, goggles, ventilation)
• What to expect as the iron starts to dissolve (it turns a purplish-red color)
• Final rinse and cleanup
