The Ancient Cataclysmic Event

A "cataclysmic event" refers to a sudden and violent, often destructive, occurrence. In Earth's history, these events have included major extinction events, asteroid impacts, and periods of abrupt climate change. Examples range from the Permian-Triassic extinction event, one of the biggest mass extinctions in Earth's history, to the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis, which suggests a comet airburst around 12,850 years ago caused a cooling period and megafauna extinction.
