Jesus Christ is not some powerless servant, as the Unitarians falsely claim. He is God Almighty, eternally existing with the Father, sharing the Father's glory from eternity (John 17:5). When Christ said, "The Father is greater than I," He spoke from His humble state as a man on earth—not as inferior in divine nature.

This position of servanthood was temporary (Philippians 2:7), but His divine essence never changed. Jesus, the Son of Man, who judges mankind, doesn't gain authority because He lacked it, but He exercises divine authority in perfect union with the Father. Only God Himself can rightly claim to give life to whomever He pleases (John 5:21). Jesus is the visible image of the invisible Father (Colossians 1:15), appearing throughout the Old Testament as the Angel of the LORD, whom prophets worshipped as God.
