False narratives about fatherhood — especially Black fatherhood — have done real damage. But the data tells a different story. 📊
🧠 Did you know?
➡️ 59% of Black men aged 15–44 are fathers — nearly the same as white (62%) and Hispanic men (57%).
➡️ When dads do live with their kids, Black fathers are just as involved — often more — in daily care like reading, bathing, and feeding.
So why the persistent myth of the "absent father"? 🤔
The truth is:
🚫 It’s not always that fathers leave.
💔 Sometimes, it’s that families break under pressure — from conflict, poverty, trauma, and lack of support.
✅ And yes, women also leave fathers — for safety, for survival, or sometimes because society told them it was strength.
🛑 Let’s stop blaming and start listening.
Let’s uplift all fathers — especially those who fight every day to stay connected, present, and involved.
