Randy talks about the early actions many used for precision shooting and what needed to be done to the bolt to insure better accuracy.
He also discusses the best actions for top accuracy, and the Borden action, by Jim Borden of Borden Rifles. https://bordenrifles.com/alpine-ridgeline-mountaineer-and-timberline-actions/ is the best made action out there, top of the line, best in tolerances, fit, feel, function. At this time [2025] we are no longer using Borden actions because of the extremely long wait time. We are using, for the most part, Mack Brother’s custom actions, but others, also, which are just as good, and a much shorter lead time after ordering. Contact Randy for more information.
While there are many custom actions out there, and many are good, none, in his use of the many custom actions he’s had in hand, and researched, can top the Borden actions.
