Santos Cerdán, the powerful #3 in Spain’s ruling Socialist Party (PSOE), has been accused of rigging the party’s 2014 primaries that helped PM Sánchez become party leader and eventually Prime Minister.

According to a leaked message unearthed by Spain’s Civil Guard, Cerdán told party insider Koldo García:

“Mark those two as having voted, without anyone seeing you, and put the ballots in.”

Koldo’s reply? “Done.”

The country’s Supreme Court is now weighing charges of criminal conspiracy and bribery.

So, to recap: the current party boss may have climbed the ladder by literally forging votes in a backroom scheme, and texting instructions like he’s ordering takeout.
