The Armor of God: The Helmet of Salvation

Why would the Apostle Paul compare a piece of weaponry, like the helmet of the Roman soldier, to the gift of salvation? Perhaps it was because the helmet of the Roman soldier was very beautiful and intricately ornate, so much so that when a Roman soldier walked by, it was his helmet that everyone noticed. Did you know the helmet of the Roman soldier was made of bronze? Beloved, take up the helmet of salvation because the enemy of your soul is coming for your head! He knows that the control center for your life is in your mind; if he can seize control of your thoughts, your body will soon follow!
