Star Wars Fans Cannot Accept the Series is More Than George Lucas

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy was hand picked by George Lucas to run the studio he founded once he sold his creation to Disney. Star Wars was to be carried on by people still passionate about the property and sheppard it into a new age now that Lucas was done with it. That has yet to truly manifest and Kennedy has proven time and time again to be a poor steward, but that shines a light on what Star Wars both is and isn't.

Kennedy turned up to a showing of an unaltered version of Star Wars, thought lost to time from 1977. Lucas is infamous for tinkering with his creations long after release and disavowed the original version in light of his new Special Editions. Giving her blessing of the showing, supposed fans of the franchise are torn as to whether or not to praise Kennedy for signing off on the screening as it gives the fans what they have wanted for decades, but also betrays the wishes of George.

This conundrum highlights the need for Star Wars fans to grow up and accept Lucas is not the be all, end all of this nearly half century old brand.
