ARCHIVE EPISODE: Vancouver – The Beautiful and the Ugly

📅 Originally released: January 21, 2020
📛 Originally released under my former podcast name: Vancouver True Crime

This episode marks a foundational moment in my journey—raw, unpolished, and driven by a fire to expose the truth beneath Vancouver’s glossy exterior.

Back then, I recorded under the name Vancouver True Crime. The name has changed, but the mission remains: to document the dark realities hidden in plain sight and amplify the voices no one else will.

In this episode, I explore the stark contradictions of a city known for its natural beauty, yet gripped by social collapse—open drug scenes, gang violence, homelessness, and policy failures that have only worsened in the years since.

⚠️ Note on language: Some terminology (like “prostitution” instead of “sex work”) reflects the norms of the time. I’ve grown since then, and my language has too. The core message, however, remains clear and unwavering.

🔍 What You’ll Hear:

A street-level look at Vancouver’s hidden decay

The early warning signs of a crisis that the pandemic only deepened

Stories from the frontlines: survivor voices and cold case connections

A deeply personal perspective from someone born and raised in this city

This is where Dark Mind Detective truly began. If you're following this journey, this episode is essential listening.
