Property Tax Rant: Are You Really Free?

Why do we pay property All right I'm gonna go on a rant here for a second I got a notice in the mail all right from the uh local county Montgomery County- Tax assessor's Tax Assessor's Office okay I got what's called a notice to pay a personal business property tax Hmm I I lease this office here in over in Conroe Texas When I get a property tax bill I immediately go well I call them and I say "Why are you sending me this You know I I only lease a space here." They go "Well the county actually passed a tax that the property you use in your business that helps generate income," so everything from a lamp a desk the computer the mouse you use to it you're supposed to assess its value send that to the tax assessor office and they come up with a property tax allotment for you to fucking pay You've got to be shitting me When this happen So it was a moment it was a moment for me You know w- you look at this stuff with Jeffrey Epstein and then it's like- Fuck And this is how unfortunately most people react including myself It's like until something touches you then you start- Exactly Then you start you know And that was a moment for me So when I'm calling the office uh the gal up there she's like she couldn't explain it to me I said "You work at the assessor's office that has a number here to call and you can't tell me what this is for?" She says "Well your accountant should know about it and they uh they should've filed an assessment." And I said "Well what if I don't what if I don't pay?" And they said "Well they can file a lien and uh you can get a a tax notice," or they can basically uh come and take all your shit They can lock this place down for me Your own business A business personal property tax in Texas On property that you lease Pathetic No this is- It's pathetic This is Guys what the hell So this is the kind of stuff that I'm talking about So you know you you revert back to a local level because you know after that I started thinking about my house It's like you know I got some good equity in my home You know it's still on a mortgage so I don't own it outright yet You'll never own Let's say I pay it out You don't own it And I don't pay taxes for one year What happens to it You lose it It's gone I'm a tenant on the on my own property regardless if I pay it off or not So the underlying principles of individualism and self-determination and all these all these kinds of things that's a basic one Taxing your labor and taxing your property and taking- Freedom's over having the ability to take it away That's where you start Freedom's over What did John Locke write about What did the founders- Yeah that quoted John Locke The foundation of personal freedom is property ownership
