When In Doubt, Use This Tip To Craft Anyone A Cocktail

Whether you’re new to bartending or a seasoned vet of the craft cocktail, we all have moments where we aren’t quite sure where to start with a guest that said “I don’t Know, Surprises me!”

My tried and true belief is most people enjoy the Collins format
2 Base
1 Acid
1 Sugar
Plus soda water

This is a safe cocktail that fits almost any occasion and most palates. You can make it with vodka if they’re afraid of gin as well.
The more comfortable you become the more you can experiment. Change the sugar, change the citrus, add bitters, add a modifier… the possibilities are endless. And the same principles apply to the sour build just without soda water.
