Two men missing at sea: Families of Diver, Coast Guard officer still await recovery, closure months later— state entities silent

As the search for two men who went missing at sea during separate maritime operations drags on, families are pleading for answers—and action.

Able Seaman Keiron Simon, a Coast Guard officer, disappeared nearly four months ago on the night of February 20th, 2025, during an operation involving a suspected drug-trafficking semi-submersible. Simon reportedly entered the vessel to conduct a search when it suddenly sank. Another officer was rescued, but Simon never resurfaced.

In a previous interview, his brother Kelvon Simon said the Coast Guard confirmed a private company had been sourced to retrieve the sunken vessel—where Keiron is believed to be trapped. However, that recovery effort remains on hold, pending Government approval.

“My brother went missing while in the line of duty. We deserve the truth—and we deserve action,” Kelvon told Ian Alleyne Network in April.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, Well Services Petroleum Company, in January, confirmed that they believe they have located the body of Pete Phillip, a commercial diver who went missing during an undersea maintenance operation earlier this year.

But to date, there has been no word on efforts to retrieve his remains fron the wreck.

In a statement previously issued, the company said the next steps involve stabilizing the rig, securing heavy equipment, and finalizing a safety plan to be submitted to the OSH Authority (OSHA) before any recovery mission can proceed.

Both families say they’ve been left in painful limbo—waiting for closure as the recovery missions remain stalled by bureaucratic delays.—
