Ep 771 • "The Necessary DOCTRINE or TEACHING of Christ, the GREATEST TEACHER of all Time"

Jesus was, and still is, the greatest Teacher of all time. To despise teaching, (or doctrine), is to despise the Teacher Himself, for God invented both teacher and teaching itself. Jesus was commonly referred to as Rabbi or Teacher by the people of his day. He is certainly qualified to be a Teacher, considering all wisdom and knowledge comes from Him:

Colossians 2:3 ~
"In whom [Jesus] are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge."

The words Rabbi and Teacher and Master, are often used synonymously:

Matthew 8:19 ~ "And a certain Scribe came and said to Him, 'TEACHER, I will follow You wherever You go.''"

Matthew 12:38 ~ "Then some of the Scribes and Pharisees answered Him, saying, 'TEACHER, we want to see a sign from You.'"

Mark 4:38 ~ "And He was in the stern [of the boat], sleeping on a cushion. And they awoke Him and said to Him, 'TEACHER, do You not care that we are perishing?'"

Luke 7:40 ~ "And Jesus answering, said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, MASTER, say on."

The Greek word "διδάσκαλος" (didaskalos) is often translated as "Teacher," "Rabbi" or "Master." Jesus is frequently addressed as "Teacher" or "Master" or "Rabbi" by His disciples and others in the New Testament:

John 3:2 ~ "The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, 'Rabbi, we know that You art a Teacher come from God: for no Man can do these miracles that You do, except God be with Him."

John 13:13 ~ "You call me MASTER and Lord: and you say well; for so I Am."

There are eight times the English word "Doctrine" (Teaching) is used in the book of 1 Timothy alone:

1 Timothy 1:3
1 Timothy 1:10
1 Timothy 4:6
1 Timothy 4:13
1 Timothy 4:16
1 Timothy 5:17
1 Timothy 6:1
1 Timothy 6:3

The Greek words used for doctrine or teaching are similar:

- *1 Timothy 1:3*: ἑτεροδιδασκαλεῖν (heterodidaskalein) - "teach different doctrine", but the root word is indeed διδαχή (didachē)
- *1 Timothy 1:10*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia) - "doctrine" or "teaching"
- *1 Timothy 4:6*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia)
- *1 Timothy 4:13*: ἀναγνώσει (anagnōsei) isn't the word doctrine, however some versions have διδασκαλία (didaskalia) in other parts of this section, but διδασκαλία is in the kjv
- *1 Timothy 4:16*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia)
- *1 Timothy 5:17*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia)
- *1 Timothy 6:1*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia)
- *1 Timothy 6:3*: διδασκαλία (didaskalia)

In most cases, the Greek word used is διδασκαλία (didaskalia), which means "teaching" or "doctrine".

1 Timothy 6:3-11 ~
[3] If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the DOCTRINE which is according to godliness; [4] he is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, [5] perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. [6] But godliness with contentment is great gain. [7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. [8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. [9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. [10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. [11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness."
