New Study Finds Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill" Will Kill Thousands
We're seeing reports that the "Big Beautiful Bill" Donald Trump is trying to force through the Houses of Congress, that the budget plan he's proposed will cause over an additional 51,000 deaths of Americans each year and a lot of that has to do with the loss of healthcare coverage that comes along with the Medicaid cuts.

We're getting reports that the big beautiful bill that Donald Trump is trying to force through the Houses of Congress, that the budget plan that he's proposed will cause over an additional 51,000 deaths of Americans each year.
Yeah. This was a shocking number when it came out. It came out from a Yale study towards the end of the last week or so and they said, listen, we've looked at the data, we have crunched the numbers, we have checked all of the possibilities here, and we're looking at an additional 51,000 premature deaths every year if this bill becomes a reality and a lot of that has to do with the loss of healthcare coverage that comes along with the Medicaid cuts. And people may not understand that fully and let me put it to you this way because it's super simple. We take for granted, those of us who do have health insurance, that when we're sick, we can go to the doctor. 99 times out of a hundred it's nothing.
Oh yeah, you have a cough. It's a sinus infection. The one time when it's something serious, we catch it, we can catch it early enough because I had this cough, I had this chest pain, went in for x-rays, they found a spot. Okay, now, course of action. When you don't have healthcare, those things that you think maybe it's mild, maybe it's something I'll get over in a few weeks, they grow. Cancers will grow, heart problems will get worse. That is the threat that millions of Americans face without health insurance and millions more will face if this bill passes and I think we're all pretty much certain that is gonna happen.
Well, and I think we can put it on the screen here, the study that came out was actually from Penn. It calls itself the research memo, projected mortality impacts of the budget reconciliation bill, June 3rd it was sent out. The breakdown here also includes 13,000 deaths among Medicaid enrollees in nursing homes due to the rollback of CMS 2024 nursing home minimum staffing rule. So part of that bill was that you have to have a minimum staffing to be a nursing home and receive federal funds. This is going to undo that rule, this big beautiful bill and they're attributing 13,000 deaths of seniors annually to this minimum staffing rule being rolled back.
So that's 13,000 deaths just due to neglect basically. That's terrifying. Absolutely.
11,300 from loss of Medicaid or Affordable Care Act marketplace coverage, due to 7.7 million people will lose coverage. These are estimates of course, but 7.7 million people in this country are going to lose access to healthcare coverage. In addition, 18,200 deaths were attributed to loss of Medicaid coverage among 1.38 million low income Medicaid beneficiaries causing loss of access to low income prescription drug subsidies. So not only are we going to see people who are not finding out they have a disease, they cannot afford the prescriptions to treat the disease, as we've seen with insulin pricing and a few other scandals that have erupted and that our firm has been involved with going after these people. Without Medicaid, people can't afford those lifesaving drugs and they're going to die. We are the richest, most sophisticated country in the world. We are not providing basic healthcare to our most needy.
And one of the things I did not see in the breakdown of these numbers is something that will also cause even more deaths. So I think that 51,000 is a very low end estimate because this bill also almost completely eliminates the subsidies for low income individuals for their electricity bills, heating and cooling. So, we are already, at this time of year down where we live in Florida, we are seeing heat that exceeds the typical for this time of year. Other areas of the country, same thing.
