Logs to Lumber

I have several structures in the planning stages. What I’ll need lumber wise is known. The rest?.Well, it’s up in the air at the moment, especially where I’ll be putti9ng things. I also have a lot of trees that need to come down. The first link below is where I cut these trees down and then stripped the bark so they could begin drying out. By the way in here I mentioned making fence posts and soaking the bottom three feet in old motor oil for two weeks or so. It is also a good idea to paint the sides but not the bottoms with asphalt. If you paint the bottom you’ve just created a cup and the water might get trapped in there. Not good. This is also true for barn posts in pole barns.
As far as the charring of the wood is concerned I use a very high BTU flame weeder. If you can get your pieces next to each other the burning wood adds it’s own combustibles and saves you on gas.

This is the video where I cut the trees down, I’m turning into lumber in this video.
