Can Pro-Mags Survive This Mini-14 Challenge?
In this TacNerd range test, we put five different ProMag magazines through their paces in a Ruger Mini-14 — a rifle notorious for being picky about aftermarket mags. ProMag has earned a rough reputation over the years for feeding issues, jams, and inconsistent quality, especially in the Mini-14 platform. So, naturally, we had to see for ourselves.
Using three different types of ammo — Wolf steel-cased .223, PMC Bronze 55-grain, and a batch of handloaded .223 reloads — we ran a full range test across all five magazines. And to our surprise... zero malfunctions. No jams, no stovepipes, and no failures to feed. Could these be flukes or has ProMag stepped up their game? You’ll want to watch this one to get the full picture before trusting these mags in your own rifle.
