JEREMIAH was called by God in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah. He was the main prophet in Jerusalem during the last four decades of the kingdom of Judah until the captivity of Babylon. The word of God was received by Josiah, but after the death of Josiah at Megiddo Jeremiah preached against everyone and everything that were not right (2 Chron. 35:20-25; Jer, 1:18-19; Rev. 2:13) and Jeremiah was completely alone at times (Jer. 15:15-17). Jeremiah opposed apostasy in all forms and he preached against the false prophets and Bible revisers of his day (Jer. 23:36; 2 Cor. 2:17). Jeremiah truly believed in the inspired words of God and the eternal preservation of the words (Ps. 12:6-7; Jer. 36:27-32). He was a faithful prophet of the eternal words of God (Deut. 18:18-19; Ps. 119:89; Matt. 4:4,0 24:35; 2 Thess. 3:1).

Jeremiah doctrinally portrays Jewish prophets of the Great Tribulation (Rev. 7:4-8; 14:1-4) and he may personally preach during the Tribulation (Matt. 16:14). Jeremiah was commanded to remain single (Jer. 16:1-2), which associates him with the single men of the scattered tribes of Israel during the Tribulation (Matt. 24: 19; James 1:1). The book of Lamentation describes the Jews and their sufferings during the Tribulation. Satan's special number 13 interestingly shows up in the writings of Jeremiah. The words backsliding and backslidings occur 13 times in the book and the book contains 52 chapters (4 x 13) and 1,364 verses.

Spiritually, Jeremiah pictures a faithful prophet of the pure word of God. The word pastors occurs seven times in the book and the word pastor occurs once. Jeremiah was a pastor who faithfully followed God because he diligently studied the word (15:15-17; 20:9). The clearest chapter the Bible about the preservation of the words of God is Jeremiah 36. The words of the word of God form the basis for any blessed nation (Ps. 33:12; Prov. 14:34; Jer. 23:22).
