SECOND CHRONICLES completes the public records of 1 Chronicles. It officially records the kings and their events after David to the last king of Judah. This book primarily is limited to the royal line of David and the southern kingdom. It records Solomon's reign, the division of the kingdom, the apostasy, the captivity, and the restoration by the decree of Cyrus.

The central theme reveals the benefits of humility (2 Chron. 7:14; 12:6-7; 32:26; 33:12-13). The humble mind believes the word by faith and prays for understanding (Prove 22:17-21).

Proud professors of philosophy imagine errors and contradictions with the parallel passages in the books of the kings (Rom. 1:22). Honest minds operate with the thought that an error must be proven beyond a reasonable shadow of a doubt (2 Thess. 3:1-2), but textual critics envision errors due to their vain imaginations and prejudices against the Bible. The few discrepancies between the Chronicles and the Kings may be the normal errors in the public records of men and God recorded the record as it was recorded. The book has 36 chapters and 822 verses.
