FIRST CHRONICLES is the first of two books that contain the public records of the kings of Judah. The records seem to be the salient facts and chronological events of the southern tribes (1 Kings 14:19; Esther 2:23; 6:1; 10:2). Genealogies, births, deaths, covenants, land grants and significant events of the public officials were kept for official documents. The two books' of the Chronicles are like the public records in a courthouse or a journal of an individual.

The Hebrew Bible contains the books of the Old Testament of the AV 1611, but the books are in different chronological order. The Chronicles are at the end of the Jewish Bible. God did not choose to record the chronicles of the kings of Israel in the Scriptures. God chose to record the chronicles of the kings of Judah because it is information about the lineage of the Lord Jesus (Matt. 1:1; Luke 3:23). First Chronicles contains 29 chapters and 942 verses. The three main divisions of the Chronicles are the genealogy (1 Chron. 1-10), the vital events of King David (1 Chron. 11-29), and David's successors (2 Chronicles).

The central theme of the two books is the holiness of God. People must humble themselves and obey the word of God in order to receive blessings (2 Chron. 7:14; Ps. 33:12). Kings and nobles must humbly read God's word daily (Deut. 17:14-20; Dan. 4:28-37).

Alexandrian scholars deceitfully compare the accounts about kings and kingdoms; so that, they might cast doubt on the preserved words of God and retain their fraudulent authority over the people (Mark 12:13-17; Luke 11:52-54; John 11:47-48). Problem texts are mostly in the deluded mind of the humanistic scholar. A dishonest scholar alters -the words to protect his personal interest and idol God allows problem texts to test the sincerity of Bible students and to prove the dishonesty of the scholar (Prov. 17:16; 18:1-2; Ezek. 14;9), Honest students prayerfully seek the words of truth through the Holy Ghost (John 16:13; 2 Cor. 4:1-2).
