SECOND KINGS continues the history of the divided kingdom of Israel until their captivity. Israel forsook the word of God (Prov. 13:13; Isa. 30:8-13; Hosea 4:6). The northern kingdom of Israel was conquered by the evil Assyrians around 722 B.C. (2 Kings '17) and the southern kingdom of Judah was captured by the wicked Babylonians around 586 B.C. (2 Kings 25).

The book records the rapture of Elijah, the ministry of Elisha, the destruction ofthe house of Ahab by Jehu, the healing of Hezekiah, the wickedness of Manasseh, and the great revival under Josiah's reign. The book contains 25 chapters and 719 verses.
