Better Than God's Voice – II Pet. 1:13-21

Have you ever longed to hear God's voice in an audible way? Have you ever wished you could literally, physically hear God's voice with your own ears, the same way you hear your spouse or a friend? I have. I read stories in the Old Testament, stories that clearly indicate God speaking in an audible voice that men can hear. There are even a few cases where God physically appeared in the form of an angel. I think, "it would be cool to hear his voice."

As fantastic and glorious as those events were, Scripture tells us in II Peter 1 that we have something even more sure than God's voice. We have something better. That something is the written Word. It's normal for us to think God's voice is better, but I believe that's only because most of us haven't heard it. We are naturally curious as to what it sounds like. Nonetheless, God's own Word tells us that his written communication is more sure (for us) than his voice.
