The Bersa M2Xi Stainless – Bersa’s First 1911DS Enters the Arena?

Today I’m taking a close look at the Bersa M2Xi Stainless, a full-size, double-stack 1911 chambered in 9mm. I ran it in my belt holster, ran some reload drills, and put a few hundred rounds of 96-grain solid-copper Velocitas ammo through it—huge thanks to Velocitas for sending those out.

Out of the box, the M2Xi feels like a serious step up from Bersa’s compact carry pistols. The 416 stainless frame and slide have a clean brushed finish, and the ultra-match button-rifled bull barrel sits on a two-piece guide rod. The grip module is polymer with aggressive texturing, and that extended slide lock really doubles as a comfy thumb rest. Trigger pull hit right around 3 to 3.5 pounds every time, with a solid break and short reset.

I did notice the slide was a bit stiff at first—typical stainless-on-stainless—but a quick wipe of lubricant smoothed it out nicely. Magazine changes were intuitive thanks to the flared magwell, and the two supplied 18-round Mec-Gar magazines plus the free 23-round coupon give you plenty of options for drills or competition.

Performance-wise, recoil stayed surprisingly flat for a full-size stainless pistol, and I didn’t experience any malfunctions with the Velocitas rounds. The grip tracked well during fast strings, and after a couple hundred rounds the slide break-in made transitions even smoother.
