St James' and St Michael's church is situated on Whitehall Road in New Farnley.

St James Church comprises a detached building
single storey in nature and built in 1955. It
incorporates brick elevations under a predominantly
pitched roof with concrete tile covering and some flat
roof elements. Accommodation is planned across
ground floor only plus a small cellar with limited
headroom. Access is primarily from a front entrance
which gives way to an entrance lobby off which
there are storage and wc facilities. The lobby then
gives way to the principal Church Hall beyond which
there is a further office/room and separate kitchen.
The site extends to around 1.5 acres. It includes
extensive frontage to Whitehall Road. The Church
building is situated close to boundary with Whitehall
Road and this section of the site is largely level.
The remainder of the site slopes to the rear and is
heavily wooded. Leeds City Council have placed a
Tree Preservation Order on the most part of the site
although exclude the Church building and its
immediate perimeter/frontage. Further particulars
are available.

The definition of an abandoned building is a property which is vacant and where the occupier or owner fails to manage or maintain it and/or cannot be traced. Abandonment can happen to both domestic and commercial buildings
