Rahan.
The Son of the Ferocious Ages!
Episode One Hundred and Seventy-Four.
By Roger Lecureux, drawn by Andre Cheret.
Rahan the Killer.

The son of Crao hated these sudden outbursts of anger from the sky. Surprised by a storm, in this territory of which he knew nothing, he rushed towards a glimpse of a cave.

But he was not the only one seeking shelter.
Mimak is not so lucky!
Seeing the man rush into the cave, the child fearfully lurked.

A smell of fire and smoke proved that the cave was "inhabited".
Oh. What, what.

The painting that spread across the rock was the most beautiful that the son of the fierce ages had ever seen.

Some people believe they can gain the favor of the spirits of the hunt by leaving their imprints near "The Flat Beast"!

Rahan was going to, for fun, apply his own imprint, when.
Violate the sacred cavern and defile the "Flat Beast"!
Such sacrilege deserves only.
Page Two.

Death!
Without even turning around, Rahan had instinctively dodged the first spear.
The colossus that had just emerged was brandishing a second.

He quickly passed this spear into his left hand, but.
Ah. Gao will crush you like a.

Rahan did not give him time to do more.
Raat!

Hum.
The "Fire-Hair" hunter is lost!
No one has ever defeated Gao!

Ah, do not force Rahan to kill.
Ah. Do not force him.

The son of Crao, in fact, had never stolen a man's life!
Argh.
But he was suffocating under the relentless embrace of the colossus.

He suddenly thought his heart was bursting.
A red mist blurred his vision.
The shadows.
The shadows.
The shadows.

And the son of Crao sank into nothingness. Into darkness.
The darkness perhaps of the realm of shadows?
No

When he came to, the rain had stopped.
And.

Oh!
What have you done, Rahan!
What have you done?

Page Three.

Rahan killed him.
Rahan killed him!
The colossus lay on its side, the ivory knife stuck in its back.

For the first time in his life, the son of Crao had stolen the life of a man!

Remorse and shame assailed him.
Rahan betrayed his oath.
Always respect the life of "Those-who-walk-upright"!

He was so upset that he began to hate the ivory weapon on which his life had so often depended.
Be cursed knife!
Be cursed!

Rahan killed him!
Rahan is nothing but a killer!
Harassed by the same thought, he remained for a long time near the body of his victim.

This is where the hunters guided by Mimak discovered him.
You have killed the best hunter of the Three Totem Clan, "Fire Hair"!
Do not try to escape us!

Page Four.

Flee!
The son of Crao had no intention of doing so.
Take Gao to the village!
He will go to the "Shadows" with the honors due to the guardian of the sacred cave!

Do not touch this knife until the "Tears of Heaven" have purified it three times!

But why did "Fire-Hair" stay with Gao's body?
Near the huts nestled near the river, stood three totems made of mammoth tusks.

A little later.
And do you admit your crime, "Fire-Hair"?
Yes! Rahan confesses to killing Gao!

We, the sorcerer of the "Three Totems" clan, decide that the captive will be put to death when the sun-god has returned twice!
Rahan was firmly attached to the totem, near the one from which his ivory weapon was already hanging.

Take that cursed knife out of Rahan's sight!
Take it out!

Page Five.

Rahan should never have stolen from the River Clan Chief!
Uh.
Uh.
The son of Crao realized how stupid this thought was. How would he have survived without a knife?

However.
It is up to Mimak to watch over the captive!
And two hunters will watch over Gao-the-brave, until he is delivered to the river!

The remains of the "Guardian of the Sacred Cave" lay near the tall trees, on a raft under a shroud of flowers.

And may the evil spirits who drove this killer to our territory spare us the fury of the "Thundering Mountain"!

Each hunter, before returning to his hut, came to pay homage to the dead.
Rahan killed a hunter loved by all!

Will you ever forgive him for this crime, Crao?
No, Rahan knows that Crao will never forgive him!
Never!
Page Six.

A novel sentiment filtered into him.
Rahan must redeem himself in the eyes of Crao-the-wise, redeem himself with "Those-who-walk-upright."

But to redeem.
Rahan must escape!
The captive had not heard Mimak approaching.

A prisoner is very wrong to speak his thoughts aloud!
Uh!

Rahan's thoughts are loyal, "Man-cub"! You should help him! Take the Knife.
Free Rahan!

Are you a fool?
Mimak will never touch the weapon.
That killed the guardian of the sacred cave!

And the child disappeared, abandoning the captive to his fate.
Rahan can only count on himself!

Page Seven.

While the funeral vigil was still going on, the son of Crao tried in vain to break his bonds.

The volcano rumbled again, a little louder, a little longer.
This.
It is coming very soon.
Perhaps tonight.

The "Thundering Mountains" always reminded Rahan of "The Dreadful Night," the one when the blue mountain had erupted.
Vomiting its entrails in torrents of fire.

Decimating his entire clan, making him the only survivor.
He relived the final moments of.

Crao-the-wise bequeathing him the necklace of the five virtues.
Courage.
Loyalty.
Generosity.
Tenacity.
Wisdom.

Rahan will always be faithful to these virtues and he swears to never steal a man's life!
Page Eight.

Rahan did not keep his oath! But he will redeem himself, Crao!
All his efforts to break his ties were in vain.

He arched to writhe on the totem.
Left. Right. Front.
Courage.
Courage.

The tusks were deeply embedded in the ground.
But the repeated brutal shocks were slowly unsealing them.

And suddenly.
Look!
“Hair of Fire” wants to flee!
This is proof of his guilt!

In a terrible and last effort, the son of the fierce ages proceeded.
Ra-ha-ha!
To finally tear the totem from the ground.

Incredible! This killer is daring! But he will not escape our hunters!
The leader of the three totem clan had not seen anything yet!

Page Nine.

The first wave of hunters encountered a response as unexpected as it was effective!
Ra-ha-ha!

The second assault was met with a force just as brutal.
Argh! Argh!

Other men ran up, who only had time to see the fugitive disappear into the forest.

All to the hunt!
We must catch the killer before the wrath of the "Thundering Mountain" erupts!

They will not catch him!
This hunter seems too cunning!
Mimak had just recovered the ivory knife.

You must know all the secrets of "Hair of Fire," knife!
But you are ignorant of those of Mimak!

Page Ten.

However, the son of Crao continued his improbable escape, handicapped by the tusks he had been unable to get rid of.

He bumped into low branches.
He had to go around thickets.

To force a passage into others.
Ra-ha-ha!

Exhausted, he took a pause.
Rahan cannot hear the hunters anymore! Ah. If only he could break these vines!

He had already found himself in similar situations and each time he had been able to free himself!
But Rahan had his knife!

His knife!
He relived the scene from his childhood when he had stolen the ivory weapon, with which the chief of the river clan had threatened to cut out his tongue.

How many seasons have we lived together, knife!
How many battles have we fought together?

Page Eleven.

Ra-ha-ha!
Brilliant visions came back to him.
Visions of his childhood, his adolescence, his youth.
The ivory knife, "The knife of the Brave" had been in all his confrontations and all his victories.

He relived the many scenes of the fierce ages, when he owed his life to his precious knife.

To how many territories had his weapon guided him?
To how many adventures during which never, never.

Had it killed a man?

But yesterday you made Rahan a killer!
Rahan hates you, knife!

Page Twelve.

The rumblings of the volcano were getting closer and closer.
The clan has gone hunting again.
Fleeing the cries that again reached him, Rahan finally left the forest.

They would never imagine that Rahan could have been heading towards.
The "Thundering Mountain"!

He had suddenly lost his balance.
Oh!
And he tumbled down the slope, entangled in the tusks that risked dislocating his limbs.

Rahan is lost! Rahan will join you, Crao!
The slope was too steep, the tusks too heavy.
Nothing could stop this slide toward the abyss, toward death.

The vine that held him to the Totem, worn by friction, suddenly broke.
And Rahan thought his whole body was bursting!
Crack!

And suddenly.

Argh!

Page thirteen.

Rahan is coming, Crao!
Splayed apart, he was thrown into the void.

Harg!

The time has not yet come for Rahan to join the "Shadows"!

The steep cliff abruptly plunged into a fast-flowing river, bristling with reefs.

The tusks prevented him from any attempt to climb or dive.

And another peril loomed.

Vraoom!

It was daybreak, the eruption of the "Mountain-that-thundered"!

Page Fourteen.

The hunters, accustomed to the volcano's anger, had gathered on high rocks.
Who quickly became as many islands, surrounded by lava flows.
The mountain spirits are dissatisfied with us!

They are certainly punishing us for letting Rahan-the-Killer escape!

No one could have known that the son of Crao was struggling in the void.
At the mercy of the volcanic explosions, he was experiencing moments of anguish.
And it was horrible.

The edge of the cliff was slowly becoming fringed with fire.
The wave of molten lava was about to flow over him!
Oh!

Giving the heavy tusk a slight sway, he managed to pin himself against the cliff.

Page Fifteen.

Clinging to this frail root, he felt the terrible heat of the cascade of fire.
They say that sometimes “life hangs by a hair."
Rahan's life hangs by a root!

And the volcano suddenly stopped rumbling.

The lava flows froze.
The clan roared with joy that their village had been spared.

Rahan, however, was still in danger.
The lava had stopped flowing.
But.

The shrub that had stopped his fall, was burning!

Eaten away by the fire, under the weight of Rahan and the tusks.
It suddenly gave way!
Argh!

The son of Crao saw the fast-flowing waters, bristling with reefs, rising towards him.
Argh!
Death, he was sure, was waiting for him down there!

Page Sixteen.

Vlouf!
Rahan could have dislocated his arms during the fall. He did not!
He could have broken his bones on the rocks. He did not!

The river could have been too shallow at this point.
It was not!
May good spirits remain with Rahan!

The current was fast and the tusks were swirling and pulling him to the bottom.
Rahan is missing. Air.
He. He will.

He will suffocate.

Carried away, tossed about, and thrown around by the river's eddies, the son of Crao no longer controlled anything.
Neither his movements, nor his thoughts.

Phew.

When the current rushed him towards a black mass.

He could only hope for a painless death.
Page Seventeen.

Vraac!
The shock was so violent that he did not realize that he had been thrown onto a large rocky island.

He instinctively clung to it, panting, gasping for breath.
Here, the shallower river ran between wooded banks.

It was when he pulled himself out of the water that Rahan saw the large caiman.
Hum.
It has been a long time since Rahan met a "Wood skin"!

The saurian remained motionless, as if petrified.
But the son of the wild ages was not mistaken.
Give Rahan a chance, "Skin of Wood"!

Sliced across a ridge of rock, a bond gave way, finally freeing him from the tusk!
Ra-ha-ha!

He was trying to free his other hand when the large caiman shook itself heavily!
Oh!
An instant, “Skin of Wood”, One tiny instant!

The saurian was getting closer and closer. It was now only six paces away.
Page Eighteen.

When the vine broke.
Ra-ha-ha!

The monster's mouth opened.
And.
It would not close again!

Ra-ha-ha!

This good old trick still works "Skin of wood"!
Arming himself with the second tusk, the son of Crao abandoned the islet.

The river was shallow here but still fast.
Rahan has no choice!
There is only this beach to gain a foothold on the shore.

He was about to reach this shore when menacing crabs emerged from the shadows of the coconut trees.
Rahan will not go back to where he came from, "Craacs"!
Let him pass!

Page Nineteen.

Terrifying guardians of the forbidden shore, the giant crabs waved their monstrous claws.

Then the son of the fierce ages took action.
Ra-ha-ha!
His battle cry covered the cracking of the shell!

Unbalanced by the violence of his own movement, Rahan saw the crab on its back.
He also saw the claw of the second crab that was going to.

Cut off his leg!

An extraordinary reflex inspired the performance!
Carefully placed, the tusk prevented the clamp from closing!
Get excited about this instead "Craac"!

The son of Crao quickly abandoned this crevice.
The crab would gesticulate for a long time on its back, while vainly grasping an ivory prey!

Page Twenty.

Exhausted by everything he had just experienced, the son of Crao remained haunted by a fixation.

He relived his violent hand-to-hand combat with Gao, the fierce guardian of the sacred cave.

Why keep repeating the same ideas? Rahan killed Gao!
Rahan is just a killer!

He saw himself again, recovering his senses and discovering, at the bottom of the ravine, the sightless body of the colossus, the ivory knife stuck in his back.

Tormented, he imagined the terrible news spreading from clan to clan!
Rahan the Killer!
Rahan the Killer!

It might even reach the land of shadows.

As far as Crao!

Page Twenty-One.

A thought crept into Rahan's mind that he still did not dare admit to himself.
Rahan killed. But is his knife guilty?
A weapon is just a weapon.

He felt so guilty that he thought he heard the monkeys accusing him!

The only culprit is the one who uses it!
The idea was obvious! He would find the clan of the three totems!

He would recover his knife!
And soon after.
Even the "Four-hands" judge Rahan!
Rahan the killer! Rahan the killer!

The son of the fierce ages dominated the immense landscape, the ocean of the forest where the river meandered.
The gorges and the distant volcano.

Hum.
Rahan will have a hard time finding this clan.

He was coming down from the branches when.
I know you are unarmed. But I am wary of you!
Page Twenty-Two

Mimak!
How did you find Rahan?
A simple habit. I found traces leading to the gorge.

I thought that the river had carried you away and I would find you downstream.
Dead or alive!

I found two "Craacs" arguing over the tusk of the totem pole!
You can guess what happened next.

Well done, Mimak!
You will make an excellent hunter!
But.

Where are you driving Rahan?
To my people!

They walked for a long time, crossing fords, climbing scree, along tracks whose existence Rahan would not have suspected!
But why bring Rahan back to yours?
I owe the clan a debt. You are giving me the opportunity to pay it back!

Page Twenty-Three.

The son of Crao could, of course, have escaped the child.
But did he not want his knife back?

The village finally appeared, where only two totems stood.
Hum, now that Rahan knows, he can escape.

As if reading his captive's thoughts, the child became more vigilant.
And.
Look, brothers!
Mimak brings you Rahan the Killer!

Kill "Fire-Hair"!
On the spot!

Spears raised, hunters rushed forward.

Rahan has no chance!
Let him escape, Mimak!

Page Twenty-Four.

Let Rahan flee!
For his answer to it all, Mimak's arrow sought the heart of the son of the fierce ages.
The first pack of hunters was no more than a spear's throw away.

Only then did the child lower his bow.

Go, Rahan.
And never come back!

The first spears began to meow.
Perhaps the son of Crao never ran so fast!

Mimak saw him distance his pursuers.
And disappear into the trees.

You will have to explain this betrayal, Mimak!

Page Twenty-Five.

No one was able to find the son of Crao when he joined the "Kingdom of the Four-Hands.”

Rahan is safe.
But.
What fate do they have in store for Mimak?

However.
Why capture and bring back Rahan-the-killer if it was.

To let him escape?
As the child persisted in his silence.

The verdict fell!
Five days and five nights without eating or drinking might give Mimak back his voice!

From the top of the foliage, the son of the fierce ages saw the child tied up.
Rahan now has two reasons to act. Recover his knife and free Mimak!

A wild beast's growl alerted him immediately. A panther was watching him, cutting off his retreat!
Fight you bare-handed? On this branch?
Rahan cannot do it, "Baghae"!

Page Twenty-Six.

But there may be another solution.
Yes.
There was another solution.
Bold, and a little crazy.
Accentuating his feline appearance, Rahan slowly advanced towards the panther.

In a moment, one or the other would have to leave.
Or they would cross paths, flank to flank.
The beast growled.
Rahan growled too!

The beast's golden gaze was menacing and cruel.
But there was just as much harshness in the man's fierce gaze!

Argh!

Ra-ha-ha!
The cry of one mingled with the roar of the other.

Page Twenty-Seven.

When they crossed paths.
The son of Crao felt the panther's flank palpitate.
And.
Nothing happened!

Goodbye “Baghae”!
Rahan was very scared, you know!
Having won this test without a fight, Rahan could only be proud of having overcome his fear.

He quickly found another vantage point.
Rahan will have to wait until nightfall.
Every detail was etched in his memory.

The women of the clan who watched over Gao's remains, under his shroud of flowers.

His knife of ivory, had been suspended again from.
A "Two-tooth" tusk.

Young Mimak, tied up to the totem, and no one cared about him anymore.

Page Twenty-Eight.

By freeing Mimak, Rahan will prove he is not.
A killer!

Rahan was now eager to act. He was afraid that the chattering monkeys would betray his presence.
But nothing happened.

And he waited for the night, thinking about all these strange things in nature, in his life.

What were the entrails of the "Thundering Mountains" hiding?

How did these terrible "Wraths of Heaven" that he hated so much come about?

Why was the "sun's lair" never discovered?

Why? How?

Two words around which the destiny of the son of Crao was woven.
The son of the fierce ages!

Page Twenty-Nine.

But the "little men" will have "Little Men," who will have in turn.
"Little-men," and they will know.
All the secrets!

And who knows? Maybe they will go up there one day.
In the territory of the great light?

As the clouds obscured the moon, Rahan slid to the ground.
All the huts were silent.

Mimak himself, tied to the totem, had been overcome by sleep, fatigue and thirst.

And suddenly.
Gao!

A short torch gloomily lit the coffin-raft. Gao seemed to be sleeping under his shroud of flowers.

Page Thirty.

The son of Crao felt his throat tighten, his heart stop beating.
Rahan did not want that!
He did not mean to kill you!

Rahan apologizes, Gao.
I am Sorry.
You have to believe Rahan, Gao, Rahan did not mean to kill!

You will have to tell Crao.
In the "Kingdom of Shadows"!

Two sturdy hunters suddenly sprang from nowhere and tried to subdue the son of the wild ages.
Oh.

We are the "Guardians of the Dead," Rahan!
This time you are at our mercy, "Fire-Hair"!

Not yet!

Vlang! Argh!

Page Thirty-One.

The long cry of the guards had alerted the clan.
"Fire-Hair!"
He must be crazy to be back!

The son of Crao rushed into the first hut he came across.
Kill!

Fortunately empty.
Kill! Kill the killer!

Crashing to the ground, he avoided the first volley of arrows and assegais.
Zip! Zlac!

The second volley miraculously spared him!

The hunters cheered the one who, very skillfully, had just.
Thrown a torch into the hutt!
Kill the killer!

Page Thirty-Two.

Rahan will not let himself be grilled like a rat!
Chlop!
Flames were already running through the dry straw.

Ra-ha-ha!
Rahan dove, throwing the torch outside.
But.

It was already too late!
Only a demon could escape us!
The spears and arrows were still flying towards the hut where the flames were roaring!

And commenced to lick at the partitions.

Rahan must choose.
Or he will burn to death in this bonfire.

Or he escapes. And dies under the hunters' spears!
The son of the fierce ages, indeed, had to choose!

Page Thirty-Three.

You are lost, “Hair of Fire”!
I should never have brought you back to mine!

The roof of the hut suddenly caught fire.
The demon is taunting us!
He has decided to let himself be devoured by fire!

Ra-ha-ha!

Rahan had just burst out of the fire like a bomb from a volcano!
The large shields made him look like a giant elytra beetle!
It was these abandoned shields that had inspired him, at the last minute, to come up with the idea for this audacious "Exit."

The hunters, momentarily stunned by the reaction of the son of the fierce ages, began to react.
Zlip! Schlap!
Protected by leather shields.

Rahan fled towards the river.
He forgot only one thing!
Page Thirty-Four.

He forgot that the "Guardians of the Dead" remained at their post!
Oh!
Not so fast, killer!

The hardened leather was as hard as the wood of a club!
Vlang! Houah!

And the son of Crao found himself at the mercy of the clan!
Wait!
He must die, as he killed, Gao! Struck in the back!

Rahan was dragged to the totem pole from which the ivory knife was still suspended.
Yes.
In the back!
Facing his cursed weapon!

Rahan did not think he would find you like this, Mimak.
Dawn was ending and arches were gathering behind the son of Crao.

Men of the Totem Clan.
By executing Rahan the Killer, you will avenge Gao.
Page Thirty-Five.

Who knows! In the Shadow Kingdoms, Rahan might think of you again, Mimak!
The child no longer dared to look at Rahan.

Rahan is going to leave for this land from which no one ever returns!
This will be the first time that. You will not accompany him, knife!

Rahan-the-killer will not see the sunrise!
Daybreak had given way to dawn. The archers were ready.

The sun was still below the horizon, but its fire was already fringing the clouds.
Rahan will never again look for your "Lair" sun, never again!

For a brief moment, the son of Crao had a terrible vision.
He appeared before the "Queen of Shadows" herself!

I was waiting for you in our kingdom, Rahan.
But.
I did not know I would be welcoming a killer here!

Then it was Crao himself who denied him!
And until the end of time, you, the killer, will no longer have the right to consider yourself my son!

Page Thirty-Six.

Rahan did not mean to kill, Crao! You have to believe him. You have to believe your son!

An order from the clan brought him back to the tragic reality.
A surge of dignity made his head spin.
He wanted to face death!

Attention! Ready!
Frozen like statues, the archers were ready!
And the fiery glare of the sun suddenly set the horizon ablaze!

And a clamor broke out.
No! No! Stop! Stop!
Rahan did not kill Gao!

Mimak saw everything!
He is going to tell you what happened in the cave of the "Flat Beast”!

Speak!
But if you invent another story, you will pay!
Speak!

Page Thirty-Seven.

The child recounted how, lying in ambush in the thickets, he had seen Rahan take refuge in the "Sacred Cave."

Then he saw the "Guardian of the Flat Beast" enter it in turn.
Screams had sounded.

The two men reappeared, savagely engaged.
Rahan brandished his weapon.
But he did not strike.
Rahan will never steal a hunter's life, he yelled!

Then he fell silent, because Gao was suffocating him, suffocating him.
When Rahan collapsed at his feet, Gao grabbed the knife!

Shouting victory, he retreated toward the small ravine.
I did not have time to warn him!

Gao-the-left-handed fell backward, dropping the knife!

Page Thirty-Eight.

But as Rahan regained his senses, stunned to find himself alone, I slipped away discreetly.

This is what happened at the sacred cave!
Rahan thought that emotion would make his heart burst!

Did you hear Crao? Rahan is innocent. Rahan is not a killer!
But the chief was not convinced.

If what you are saying is true, why did you hide it?
Why did you not say anything from the beginning?

Uh.
I have always dreamed of finally seeing the "Flat Beast." That is what all of us hunters talk about.
But. Clan law forbids access to and around the sacred cave.

To the "Little Men", as long as they are not considered hunters!

To say what I had seen was to admit that I had broken the law!

Hum. We can understand that!
But. Then why did you, on your own, capture Rahan?
Page Thirty-Nine.

By bringing Rahan back to you, I proved to myself that I had almost become a hunter.
So I had not broken the law. Only half!

There you go. You know everything! If anyone needs to be punished, it is Mimak.
And not innocent Rahan!

Innocent! Innocent?
All these words prove nothing!

Proof?
Free Rahan and he will give you some!

Feeling free of guilt, the son of Crao regained his alertness.
He saw himself again placing his handprint near the "Flat Beast."

A moment later, he carefully retrieved his ivory knife.
Beware "Fire Hair," at the slightest gesture.

The hunters, stunned, saw him crouch near the extinguished fire and sprinkle the knife with warm ashes!
Caution, brothers.
This sorcerer is capable of magic!

Page Forty.

The ash he brushed away left a jumble of prints on the ivory handle.
No one has had the knife since Gao's death!
He.

Mimak said it well.
Gao. The left-hander!?
Yes! That was what we called Gao.

Look!
The pink handprint is Rahan's, who had just touched the powder in the "Sacred Cave."
But look at the other handprint covering it, with that tiny scar.
It is a left-handed one!
Oh!

Rahan could not have killed Gao.
Since it was left-handed Gao who held the knife.

Last!

Added to Mimak's testimony, Rahan's demonstration shook the clan.
Um. All of this may be true.
And if you still have any doubts.

The son of Crao, kneeling near Gao, had respectfully taken the dead man's left hand.
Look!

Irrefutable proof, a small scar crossed the thumb of this hand!

Page Forty-One.

Although convinced, the leader still expressed a reservation.
Gao would have dropped the knife while falling into the ravine.
And he would have been.
Impaled on this weapon? How is that possible?

Chance probably caused the knife to get stuck between the stones.
Like this! Terrible bad luck did the rest.

The clan, now convinced, did not know how to apologize.
How could we make amends, "Fire-Hair"?

Oh!
Simply by freeing this brave "Little Man"!
Mimak? But it is impossible!
He broke the law!

So. Imagine a new law!

The chief and the sorcerer exchanged for a long time.
You were formidable, Rahan!

"They." They are back. What have they decided!?
Page Forty-Two.

The Grand Council has decided that no one can escape the law.

The guilty party will therefore have to serve his sentence.
Which.
Given the circumstances, it will be reduced by five days and five nights.
And.

Just one day!
The verdict was more than lenient.

And no longer captive, no longer "fussed over"!
The son of Crao spoke for him of.

Fabulous territories and incredible adventures.
To discover and understand in order to transmit to "Those-who-walk-upright", such was the wish of the son of the fierce ages.

So you have seen and done everything, Rahan!
Are you a spirit, to know so much?
Oh no! Rahan is just a simple hunter! But look, your sentence is over. They come to free you.
Already.
It was indeed, already, the dawn of a new day!
Page Forty-Three.

The clan council has decided that you will participate in the next great hunts, Mimak!
Oh!

You are now a hunter of the clan!
So I can see the "Flat Beast"?
Whenever you want.
Right away?
If you want!

After a mad dash, Rahan struggled to stay by the child's side, and the child rushed into the previously forbidden cave.
Rahan understands his happiness.

Mimak remained stunned for a long time, moved to tears, contemplating the "Flat Beast".

It was the son of Crao who broke the haunting silence of the sanctuary.

Take it, Mimak! Put your fingerprints next to your brothers. You have the right!

When his hands pressed against the rock, the child trembled.
But this was only the emotion caused by the magnitude of the event.
Page Forty-Four.

Here you are, consecrated hunter of the totem clan.
Do you think I will be a great hunter, Rahan?

A babble rising from the river drove them out of the sanctuary.
It. It is Gao!

The entire clan paid their last respects to Gao-the-Left-Handed.
The burning raft drifted away with the current.
Goodbye!
Goodbye, Gao!

Only then did the son of Crao answer the child's question.
Yes, Mimak.
You will be a great hunter.

The burning raft, on the river's horizon, would disappear in the blazing sun. Forever!
