When a friend or loved one begins to repeat themselves more frequently and seem to be a bit more fogetful than usual, how does one know if this is part of the normal process of aging or something more serious. The “Stopping Addiction and Falls for the Elderly” or “SAFE Act” Bill H.R. 7618 (118th Congress) is aimed at preventing falls in our Senior community. This bill will allow funding for fall risk and balance assessments during the annual Medicare wellness checkup to seniors. Physical and occupational therapists will be able to perform these assessments and provide advice and treatment options. By identifying those that may be a bit unstable on their feet, Seniors have the best chance to stay strong, mobile and independent for the rest of their lives.
