Marc Dutroux is a Belgian serial killer, serial rapist, and child molester, widely known as "The Beast of Belgium" or "The Monster of Belgium".
Dutroux was initially convicted in 1989 for abducting and raping five young girls, serving only three years of his sentence before being released on parole. He was arrested again in 1996 for the abduction, torture, and sexual abuse of six more girls, aged between 8 and 19. Four of these victims died. Later Dutroux was tried and convicted in 2004 for multiple charges, including kidnapping, rape, and murder, receiving a sentence of life imprisonment.
