Note: Perhaps, Elvis Mitchell was not the right choice here. He likes nothing that week! On the other hand, I had to agree with him on the other films that were terrible ("The Deep End of the Ocean", "Cruel Intentions" and even "Wing Commander".) Also, the audio is so-so with some tracking issues.
Roger Ebert and Guest Critic, Elvis Mitchell from "NPR’s Weekend Edition" & "The Fort Worth Star-Telegram" reviews "The Deep End of the Ocean" (Despite of a great cast, Michelle Pfeiffer, the late, great Treat Williams and Whoopi Goldberg and a serious family situation involving a kidnapped son, the film was a sappy and drench Lifetime Movie of the Week material filled with dramatic cliches! Based on the Novel By: Jacquelyn Mitchard: And it's directed By: Ulu Grosbard.); "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" (The Best Combo of Action, Heist Comedy and insane Parkour Stunts and of course and Awesome movie from Writer, Mathew Vaughn and director, Guy Ritchie. With an excellent cast!); "Cruel Intentions" (Personally, I rather watch the sequel with Amy Adams better! A very poor and crucial teenage adaptation of "Dangerous Liaisons" with Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe (Both from "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (1997)) along with Reese Witherspoon and Selma Blair. It's the first time on the show Ebert recommending it more.) "Analyze This" (A Hilarious Mob Comedy with Robert DeNiro, Billy Crystal, Lisa Kudrow from "Friends", Joe Vitello and Chazz Palminteri in his second collaboration since "A Bronx Tale" (Although DeNiro did produce "Faithful") and "Wing Commander" (A Very Dumb and Bloated Sci-Fi Action Space Adventure that's based on the Video Game Series from "EA: Electronic Arts" with "She's All That" and even "I Know What You Did Last Summer's" Freddie Prinze Jr. and Matthew Lillard.)
Video Picks of the Week: A tribute to Stanley Kubrick and Ebert's picks are "2001: A Space Odyssey", "A Clockwork Orange", "Dr. Strangelove", "Paths of Glory" and "The Killing". And a recap of Today's program.
Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
