Are You Even in the Race?
(Run THE Race and Finish It!)

June 22 2025

Text: Hebrews 12:1-2

Objective: that the brethren serve the Lord well to the end with lasting commitment, rigor and determination attaining the desired result of success.
Intro:
Introvoys ka ba?; different court/score for the opponent; analysis on cults role
- other race – distraction – money, fame, worldly success
Define – race, ‘the’, run, finish/complete, success, work, project, war/battle
Our race – like triathlon – multiple sets, different types of challenges
THE race – spiritual – heavenly prize, the Lord set it
1. souls saved - soul winning – mission – Luke 19:10; John 3:17
2. baptized, disciple, taught, sent
3. how accurate – doctrine – win fight both internal/external
4. maturity (prepared) – mental, emotion, physical, spiritual, financial
How to BE/win THE race:
1. Be Formidable - Strong - Psalms 19:5- Winning the race will require great strength and endurance
a. disciplined - pray, bible reading/study, worship, attend church, fellowship,
serve, soulwin, develop self, work, stewardship, give, tithes, care
2. Be Fast - Ecclesiastes 9:11 (take the default in context)
3. Be Focused – on the prize - 1Corinthians 9:24-27
a. In times of hardship – remember the Lord Jesus
b. Rewards – rev. 22:12, Matthew 25:21 – well done
c. Philippians 3:13 - 3:14 – “press toward the mark”
Characteristic of THE Race that the Lord set for us to Run and Finish:
1. This the Race that Many True and Faithful Servants have Run/Confirmed/Attest to- v.1
- “compassed about”, “great cloud”- not false witness
2. This is a Holy Race – no cheating/sin allowed – v.2
- “lay aside” weight – sin - don’t be disqualified 2 Timothy 2:5 – “lawfully”
3. This is the Race that requires Patience – v.1
- “with patience” – not true with cults and fake religion/church
4. This is Same Race that the Lord had Run –v.2
- Jesus – both author and finisher

Message/conclusion:
Let us serve the Lord well to the end with lasting commitment, rigor and determination attaining the desired result of success
