FnF BRAWL - Story and Gameplay Potential Showcase

Hi, Applecore Pictures here back with another re-upload! Posted on Jan 10, 2025 to the AAVF Studios channel, this is basically my reimaging of the rhythm game Friday Night Funkin'. Here, I started with its first night as a baseline for the premise. During the time when there was a long drought for content of the official game, and a massive explosion of fan-made mods to help compensate with the event, I was scheming about how to build upon the game and make it more exciting. Recently, I began to take note of rhythm games like Hi-Fi Rush and Crypt of the Necrodancer, which had fighting/action game elements baked into them and wondered "what if FnF had the same mechanic, where each button press corresponds to an attack?" It seemed like novel idea, the concept of pressing buttons in sync with the rhythm of a song/music OST in order to execute in-game attacks. While not a well-defined mechanic, it seemed wholly unique to me.

Of course, this was in early March 2024, and from then 'til now, I was sorely disappointed to see that I was outplayed by certain "other" projects, including the return of the original itself. Alas, I am but a visionary with no coding skills and only two hands to boot.

My hope is for these types of games, fighting-based rhythm games with attacks tied to rhythmic button presses, to emerge more in the gaming space. I may not live to see the day, but I pray that whoever finds this animated demonstration can fulfil this fantastical wish.

Nitty-gritty banter aside, this is a fully animated demo of what I envision FNF can become if it harnesses some "fighting game" element, similar to the fight with Darnell in Weekend 1. I also did a story overhaul because I thought rap-battling to solve quarrels was silly (like you guys are demons who literally trapped your daughter's ex in a dating sim, just gut 'im and dispose of the body). Enjoy!*

*In Summer 2024, FNF Weekend 1 released, adding a well-animated cutscene as an intro to the campaign of that week. I hadn't added the cutscene at that point, but I had been investing too much effort into this, so I couldn't turn back and what through with it regardless. Apologies if the beginning feels... off!

P.P.S Ignore the end scene pls. It was for Youtube vid recommendations, but since Rumble does'nt seem to do that yet (i think), it's just unnecessary. I'm lazy tho and don't want to edit it out rn. Maybe in the future, but not at the moment.
