Conversation with Hillel Schenker co-sponsored by TheNew View and members of Transcend International’s editorial staff, Diane Perlman, Marilyn Langlois and Rich Rubenstein.

Our friend, Hillel Schenker, just returned to Tel Aviv from a conference in Paris organized by the Alliance for Middle East Peace, ALLMAP, with Israelis and Palestinians to work on a two-state solution. They were in Paris when Israel began firing on Teheran on June 13.

Hillel was gracious enough to speak with us even though he was in the middle of looking for a new apartment, as his apartment was damaged by the aftershock of a missile from Iran. He spoke with us from his damaged apartment.

Brooklyn born, Hillel Schenker moved to Israel in his youth, lived on kibbutz and served in the IDF Combat Engineering Corps in defensive activities during the 1973 Yom Kippur War on the Golan Heights. He is a pioneer and leader in the peace process, having met with Palestinians in Europe when it was illegal for Palestinians and Israeli Jews to meet in Israel. For several years Hillel was chair of Democrats Abroad in Israel.

Hillel is co-editor of the award winning Palestine Israel Journal http://www.pij.org. On May 13th, 2024 in Vienna, Hillel and his Palestinian colleague and co-editor, Ziad AbuZayyad, received the 2024 Ari Rath Prize for Critical Journalism on behalf of Palestine-Israel Journal, given by the Bruno Kriesky Forum for International Dialogue. Their part begins at minute 31.

ARI RATH PRIZE FOR CRITICAL JOURNALISM 2024: EXILE – FLIGHT – EXPULSION

Hillel gives us his perspective from Tel Aviv, just following at the possible turning point and beginning of a cessation of hostilities, hopefully the end of the “12 Day War."
