Last year a savage wildfire passed through our area, burning down entire forests and scorching the land for miles in every direction. We went back into one of these burned out patches recently to see how the ecology was progressing. While many trees died, or were severely injured (and are still trying to recover), the flora and fauna is bouncing back with incredible resilience, beginning with wild grasses, flowers, insects, and birds.
