A man was arrested for drugs after he fled from a traffic stop

Waterbury, CT - They said 31-year-old Luis Medina-Cuevas of Waterbury was initially spotted by a police patrol in the area of East Liberty and Baldwin streets around 1:30 p.m. on June 18.

Officers said they tried to conduct a traffic stop because the suspect’s vehicle had a misused registration plate.

They said the driver fled.

A short time later, the vehicle was found on Wall Street.

As an officer approached, the driver tried to flee on foot. However, he was quickly apprehended.

He was identified as Medina-Cuevas.

During the investigation, police said they seized:

* Drug paraphernalia
* $2,685 in cash
* 88.4 grams of fentanyl
* 35.4 grams of crack cocaine
* 202 glassine baggies of heroin packaged for sale

Medina-Cuevas was charged with insufficient insurance, sale 1 ounce of heroin, operating a drug factory, engaging police in pursuit, failure to use turn signal, misuse of registration plates, disobeying an officer signal, sale a half ounce of cocaine/free base, possession with intent to sell narcotics, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and interfering with an officer.
