Deadly Standoff in Miramar Ranch North: SDPD Snipers Shoot Man Brandishing Pistol

On March 25, 2025, a fatal police shooting occurred in San Diego’s Scripps Ranch area, specifically in the 11600 block of Angelique Street, Miramar Ranch North. The incident involved a 59-year-old man, identified as Eric Kulakow, who was shot and killed by two San Diego Police Department (SDPD) snipers, Brandon Jordan and Chris Lingenhol, during a standoff.

The incident began when police responded to reports of a man brandishing a semi-automatic pistol and threatening construction workers and a pest-control employee in the neighborhood. SDPD officers arrived and observed Kulakow holding the weapon. During the standoff, Kulakow reportedly pointed the gun, though it was unclear at whom or what. Despite attempts to de-escalate, the situation escalated, leading to the snipers’ use of lethal force.
