The first Muharram marks the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar and is a significant religious occasion. It signals the start of the Islamic New Year, known as the Hijri year, which commemorates Prophet Muhammad's migration (Hijra) from Mecca to Medina.

The start of Muharram is a sacred time for the Muslim community, especially for Shia Muslims, who observe it in remembrance of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain at the Battle of Karbala. This month is characterized by mourning and reflection, with the 10th day, known as Ashura, being particularly significant as it marks the day Imam Hussain and his followers were martyred.

The first Muharram is associated with various religious and cultural events. Muslims commemorate this period through prayers, fasting, and attending religious gatherings. In the Shia community, it involves Majlis (gatherings) and Matam (mourning rituals) to remember the sacrifices of Imam Hussain and his companions.

From the first day of Muharram and throughout the month, Muslims practice self-restraint, faith, and solidarity with their community. This period is one of introspection and spiritual purity, holding deep significance in Islamic beliefs and traditions.

पहला मुहर्रम इस्लामी कैलेंडर का पहला महीना और महत्वपूर्ण धार्मिक अवसर है। मुहर्रम का पहला दिन इस्लामी नववर्ष का आरंभ होता है। इसे हिजरी वर्ष के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, जो पैगंबर मुहम्मद के मक्का से मदीना हिजरत करने की स्मृति में मनाया जाता है।

मुहर्रम की शुरुआत मुस्लिम समुदाय के लिए एक पवित्र समय है, विशेषकर शिया मुस्लिम समुदाय के लिए, जो इसे कर्बला के युद्ध में हजरत इमाम हुसैन की शहादत की याद में मनाते हैं। यह महीना दुख और शोक का होता है, विशेष रूप से मुहर्रम की दसवीं तारीख, जिसे 'अशुरा' कहा जाता है, उस दिन को चिह्नित करती है जब हुसैन और उनके अनुयायियों को कर्बला में शहीद किया गया था।
