Better late than never, I suppose. I've sat and watched the controversy unfold about this woman and her video series, and honestly, I COULD have just joined the mob and haze her, or I could simply point out a fatal flaw in her goal, whatever it might be. I'll note that there's more examples I could have listed, but what's done is done, I suppose. All in all, I'm somewhat on the fence regarding the whole thing. To summarize: I think she made some good points, but she failed to stick the landing and ultimately blew it.

Either way, I figured I'd throw her a bone,

ADDENDUM: Something else I failed to mention are Japanese visual novels that could be viewed by feminists as misogynistic that sell like hotcakes to men and women alike. But the point still stands: Japan is not like us and they get along fine.

As for making the video itself, I guess I fell into the trap and gave her more attention than what she deserved. The problem was that up to that point, gamers have always been under attack, and it had become a force of habit for us to respond and defend our hobby.

For people like me, gaming was all we really had left, and it simply never occured to us that we would be up against a new type of enemy that viewed criticism as harassment and would use that as their arguement to attack their perceived enemies. The right move would have been to just say nothing, but alas; What's done is done, and what's said is said.
