Taiwan Ups "Overkill" Drone Tech To Counter Xi Jinping's China | Spotlight | N18G

Taiwan is ramping up its defence game with a powerful new tool, a suicide drone named "Overkill". Drawing inspiration from Ukraine’s battlefield tactics, Overkill is a first-person view (FPV) drone built for solo operations and designed to explode on impact. Developed jointly by Taiwan’s military and drone manufacturer Thunder Tiger, it has passed live-fire tests and runs on combat-proven software from US-German firm Auterion, the same powering Ukrainian drones. With AI-enabled targeting and a precision camera, Overkill is part of Taiwan’s ambitious plan to build up to 25,000 such units. A special defence budget later this year could supercharge Taiwan's defence indigenisation effort.
