Got An Attitude?
Today was a good day for golf and I had a good round, totally enjoyed it. It wasn’t too busy because we went early and we did not have anyone behind us until the 8th hole, which was nice. Sometimes people judge you by your first hole. I did really badly this one day on my first hole and this group wanted to go around me even though the course was stacked up. They were a foursome!!! So I let them because my pride got hurt. They were actually not very good golfers and I ended up waiting on every single hole. I was so mad. My pride bucked up and I kept getting more and more of an attitude as I had to wait on them to finish every hole, knowing I could have been way ahead of them. This happens in golf. People are in a hurry and they want to pass you in line, yet you have a hole bunch of people ahead. I should have said no at the get go. AND, I should not have let my attitude simmer in the affect of pride. Pride doesn’t help anything, especially when it feeds your attitude, it just seems to make things so much worse. Have you been there and experienced what I am talking about?
When I get a bad attitude fed by pride, my golf game is terrible. I can’t hit to save my life. Attitude matters in golf and in life. If something gets your “ire” up in life, and you cop an attitude, then that day is pretty much down hill,. Yes, your attitude truly does determine what the end of your day will look like. And a bad attitude definitely is reflected on your golf scorecard… no doubt about it.
Sometimes it is best to say “whoa” to your pride, back it down and let it take a back seat. A good attitude, no matter if you are having a bad experience, will always lean you into a good result. Where there are people involved, there might not be perfection involved. People are messy. If we could just learn to not react to people’s nonsense with pride, and not let that pride shape our attitude, we could deal with pretty much anything without getting derailed off into failure.
There is no enjoyment to be had when pride is bucked up and our attitudes have soured. If I had just let them go around me and decided to enjoy my golf round anyway, even if I had to wait on them every single hole, then at least the wasted time, could have been flipped to enjoyment. My attitude would have been good, and my golf game would have been even better. Life is like that too. If you want to be successful in life, we have to learn to deal with the imperfections of people without reacting prideful and without letting it cause failure on our part. It can be done, we can patiently endure. Been there and done it, and things worked out better than I could have imagined.
So enjoy your golf round even if people are messy and keep a good attitude at whatever you are doing today, because people won’t be perfect, but our response can be pretty near perfect and lead us to a good result. God bless ya.
