The Big, Bad Wolves – II Pet. 2:1-11

Two of the most well-known fairy tales in modern culture are the 'The Three Little Pigs' and 'Little Red Riding Hood'. Both include a nasty wolf who, given the chance, would gladly eat said pigs and Little Red. Ironically, we casually recite these fairy tales without ever thinking about the implications of a ravenous wolf killing and eating three human-like pigs and an innocent little girl.

Jesus referred to false prophets as 'wolves in sheeps clothing' (Matt. 7). Sometimes I wonder if we read Matt. 7 with as little regard as the big, bad wolves in our fairy tales. Yet the wolves Jesus was talking about are very real. So real that Peter was very concerned for the churches in Asia. The wolves are still out there today and they are wreaking havoc on what's left of the Christian church.
